I am Renarion Arenimon, and I've just registered on the Wayward Inn after spending like half an hour browsing through the local forums. Preliminary results go in favor of this community, as I definitely like what I see so far. Sure looks like what I'm looking for. Might as well expand that thought. Given my experience with role playing games so far, which is to say: a couple of months in Dungeons and Dragons, Dungeon Master's perspective two free style RPGs on a Tolkien oriented forum community, as a player Given this, I have embarked on a quest of the utmost importance to spark my own imagination, learn new things, and become generally more competent in telling a story to befit my role as a rising writer. Also to entertain myself and others, of course (I once heard a rumor that human body cells actually die of boredom, by the way). Since for specific reasons I am unable to engage in D&D anymore, and I am not satisfied with RP options at my local Tolkien forum, I have searched for an alternative solution. As chance would have it, I have stumbled upon the Wayward Inn over at roleplaying.top-site-list.com, and it was the site banner and name that drew my attention immediately (come to think of it, what else could it have been? ). Before I forget, let me praise the website design as someone who had some experience in designing web sites. It really works. From the first sight of it I could already imagine myself posting happily all across these forums. So here I am, just a tiny bit intimidated by sheer complexity of some things (shouldn't have sated my curiosity and went browsing the Abyss ). Don't you worry though, I'll be on top of things before you know it. I prefer the idea of a freeform RPG but in time I may even dabble in some of the more complicated ones. I initially came looking for a place where I can start an RPG of my own, however I think I'll first take the time to understand how the Wayward Inn works rather than just barging in. I figured if I took an inside look at all the clockwork by actually playing a few games, then my own game will be much more better, richer, and generally of higher quality when the time comes. Yes, I know I have been blessed with priceless wisdom. There's more where that came from, rest assured. For now, the Wolf shall take his time to make himself at home in this Wayward Inn, preferrably in a corner by the window, and then pick things up from there soon enough. Worry not, for I am intelligent, well-mannered, exceptional, and I rarely ever bite. You'll have to risk your hide interacting with me, though, should you choose to learn more.
Let me be the first to welcome you, and give you a gift: Let it guide you to universes unknown! And for all of the Kathoran people, I fully intend to make this a tradition, without the trolling, of course.
You seem a lot like myself when I arrived. Smart, cautious, and quite offset by the complexity of it all. I'm certainly gonna like you. Anyway, once you get past all the lore and walls of text, the complex clockworks become simple cogs. This place is quite user friendly, and designed for articulation and depth. Personally, I've been learning more tricks here than I did at most of my previous roleplaying locations. And on that note, I welcome you to the Wayward Inn.
I was about to retire for the night, but I'm glad I caught your post, Tempest. I appreciate it, and if half of what you said is true then I am beyond the shadow of a doubt in the right place. Thanks. Now I'm really off. It's just past 6 AM so I have to go pretend it's time to sleep p.s. Some of these smilies will take some getting used to p.p.s. Also thanks to Wizard, whose post appeared out of nowhere.
I've spoken with you on the forums, but I'd sincerely enjoy welcoming you to our forums. You've got a method of writing that seems as though it will translate well into roleplaying with us. You're plenty welcome here and I look forward to having a bit of fun with you. As a note: You must have lot of time on your hands to post such long and eloquent messages.
Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I was buried in my character sheet for the last several hours. Worth it though, 'cause I'm done The Wolf shall address this in turn. @TWIF - Those are quite the compliments. My sincerest thanks. I hope to justify the confidence that alot of members have bestowed upon me in the short time since I joined up. And yes, unfortunately I do have a bit too much free time on my hands. Just one of the privileges of the unemployed. Meh @Wizard - I never seriously used teamspeak, but I've heard only good things about it and I will most likely be getting it sometime soon since I'll need it for gaming as well. Skype is not such a good choice turns out, although it seems to work out fine most of the time. Funny how on every single gaming forum I use, sooner or later I end up voice chatting with the admins. Last time it was about Minecraft @Miz - Well put, and thanks I will use this opportunity to publicly state my current situation, briefly and solely because it can serve in my defense should I happen to disappear for a while without explanation. Being jobless can be quite inconvenient. This is on a need to know basis so I won't go into details. As a matter of fact I have lost internet access at home several months back when my provider would no longer put up with the fact that I've been ignoring all received bills. Unfortunate, but it couldn't be helped. It still can't (even more unfortunate I guess), but I have somehow managed to catch an unprotected wireless signal in my flat and am holding onto it with everything I can. Strength is only 1/5 and it breaks every now and then, not particularly fast either, but it works (evidently). If I absolutely have to I will likely resort to hacking another signal, but none of the aforementioned is a permanent solution. There is no permanent solution, and that is why I just wanted to warn in advance that there is a more than slight possibility I could go AWOL. Not deliberately, of course. I hope to set things in order sometime in the near future and I accept your condolences in advance. I was truly surprised when I came and saw literally half the forum admins posting here. One final thanks from me, and this post is concluded
